Calling data is easy to buy and easy to regret. Before you pay any supplier, including us, ask these six questions.
1. How is the list graded?
A good supplier can tell you how the numbers connected when they were dialled, and sells different grades for different callers. “100% verified” is not an answer.
2. What gets replaced, and how?
Ask which numbers are replaced (switched off, not reachable, wrong), how you report them and when replacements arrive. Get it in writing before you pay.
3. Can it be cut by state?
Callers convert better when they speak the language of the person they dial. A state-wise cut is worth asking for.
4. What format will you receive?
Number only for high-volume dialling, or name and number when callers open by name. Make sure the file loads straight into your dialler or CRM.
5. Will the same list go to your competitors?
Ask how many times a list is sold. You are paying for conversations, not for numbers your competitors dialled yesterday.
6. Are they offering ID numbers?
If a supplier offers PAN numbers or KYC records, walk away. Government ID numbers should not be traded, and the legal risk does not stay with the seller.
One more thing
Whoever you buy from, your floor is responsible for following TRAI’s rules on commercial calls, including numbers registered on DND.
